Editing Routing

Use Edit Routing to draw connections between equipment in your 3D building. Routes can connect devices on the same floor, extend between floors, or connect rooftop equipment such as solar panels.

A port is a connection point on an object. A path connects ports and can include intermediate points to control where the route runs.

Prepare Objects for Routing

Some models already include connection ports or an electrical role. If an object has neither, assign an electrical role before drawing connections.

Switch to Edit Objects and select the object.
Open Annotations in the right-side panel.
Under Electrical Roles, click Add.
Choose the appropriate Role, then click Ok.

Examples include:

Role	Example equipment
Main Electrical Panel	The building’s main distribution panel.
PV Array	A solar panel array.
Hybrid Inverter	An inverter connecting solar, battery, and AC equipment.
Stationary Battery	Battery storage equipment.
EV Charger	An electric vehicle charger.
Branch Load Zone	A group of electrical loads.

Objects without built-in ports receive connection points when an electrical role is assigned.

Connect Two Devices

Select Edit Routing in the top toolbar.
Click Add path.
Click a port on the first device to start the path.
Move toward the destination and review the preview.
If needed, click available floor, wall, or object surfaces to add intermediate points.
Click a port on the destination device to complete the connection.
Click Add path again or press Esc to leave drawing mode.

Use intermediate points to guide the connection around your layout instead of connecting the endpoints directly.

Control	Action
Click a port	Start a connection or complete it at a device.
Click a surface	Add an intermediate route point.
Hold Shift	Place points freely instead of using angle snapping.
Esc or Add path	Finish the current drawing session.

Esc finishes drawing and keeps a valid path already drawn. It does not discard the path.

Connect Across Floors or to Rooftop Equipment

Use a building-wide view when connecting equipment on different floors so both endpoints are accessible.

Place the equipment on the appropriate floors or roof.
Make sure each endpoint has connection ports or an electrical role.
Enter Edit Routing and click Add path.
Start at the first device’s port.
Add intermediate points where needed, then finish at the destination port.

For rooftop solar equipment, select a port on the solar model or PV Array and connect it to the relevant equipment.

Tip: Adjust View Settings → Building Display → Floor Separation to make routes between floors easier to inspect.

Adjust or Remove a Route

After leaving Add path mode:

Select an intermediate routing point and drag it to reshape the route. Connected segments update with it.
Select a segment to inspect it in the right-side panel.
Use Delete Segment to remove a selected segment, or Delete Point to remove a selected routing point.

Show or Hide Routing

In the bottom status bar, open View Settings → Overlay:

Show Ports displays connection-port markers.
Show Routing displays routing paths.

Routing remains visible while Edit Routing is active. You can also save Show Ports and Show Routing in a View Profile.
