Models

Use the Models panel to add objects to your building, import custom 3D models, and create adjustable shapes and solar panel arrays.

Open Objects in the Designer’s left sidebar to display the Models panel.

The panel includes four tabs:

  • Library — browse available models.
  • Favorites — find models you have starred.
  • In Use — find models already used in your project.
  • Custom — access your imported models.

Add a model to your scene

  1. Open Objects in the left sidebar to display the Models panel.
  2. Choose Library to browse available models. Use the search and filters to narrow the list.
  3. Drag a model onto a Floor or Room in the 3D workspace.

Some models need a specific placement surface. For example, doors and windows must be dropped onto walls.

The following sections cover importing your own models and configuring the Cube and PV Array models.

Importing custom .glb models

You can import your own 3D models in .glb format.

Import a model

  1. Open Objects, then click Import in the Models panel.
  2. In the Choose file dialog, click Choose File and select a .glb file.
  3. Wait for the model editor to open.
  4. Review the preview and the Info fields:
    • Name — initially taken from the filename.
    • Thumbnail — configure the model’s preview image.
    • Tags — help organize the model.
    • Scale — resize the entire model proportionally.
    • Size — enter a target x, y, or z dimension. Changing one dimension scales the whole model and preserves its proportions.
  5. Click Save & Exit.
  6. In Confirm Import, click Save & Exit again.
  7. When saving finishes, click Exit.
  8. Open Custom to find the saved model and drag it into your scene.

Cube: editable dimensions, color, and material

Cube is a simple box-shaped object. Its dimensions can be changed independently, so you can use it to represent rectangular equipment, cabinets, or other simple objects.

Add and resize a Cube

  1. In Library, find Cube.
  2. Drag it onto a floor.
  3. Select the placed object. If necessary, switch to Edit Objects.
  4. In Shape, click the Size value to open its dimension controls.
  5. Adjust x, y, and z independently, then press Enter or click outside the controls.

Each dimension supports values from 0.01 to 1000. Unlike resizing an imported model, changing one Cube dimension does not proportionally resize the others.

Change its appearance

Under Shape → Material, choose a Type:

TypeWhat to configure
DefaultUse the default appearance.
ColorChoose a solid color using Color.
TextureSelect a material using Texture.

To give the Cube a solid color, set Type to Color, then choose the desired Color.

Energy models and PV Array

Solar models include PV Module, representing an individual photovoltaic panel, and PV Array, which creates a rectangular arrangement of panels.

Use PV Array when you want to configure an entire array through its panel count, panel dimensions, and spacing.

Create a custom-sized solar panel array

  1. Open Library and find PV Array.

  2. Drag it onto a floor.

  3. Select the array. Use Edit Building when selecting and editing the whole array; dragging a new PV Array activates this mode automatically.

  4. Expand Grid and configure:

    FieldPurpose
ColumnsNumber of panels along the array’s x direction.
RowsNumber of panels along the array’s y direction.
Column GapSpace between adjacent columns, in metres.
Row GapSpace between adjacent rows, in metres.
  5. Expand PV Module and configure:

    FieldPurpose
Module SizeThe x and y dimensions and z thickness of each panel.
Module MaterialThe appearance shared by the array’s panels. Choose Default, Color, or Texture under Type.
Nominal PowerThe rated power of each panel, in watts.

Changes to these settings update the array.
