Designer UI

In this chapter, we will have brief overview of the Designer UI.

Open Designer

In Zircon3D Home Assistant Add-On UI, click on Designer button to open it.

Open from Web Site
Designer can also be opened from Zircon3D web site, however by this way Designer can not communicate with your Home Assistant system, which is normally installed in your local network. As a result, Monitoring side panel will be empty, you can can not create data visualizations by linking to smart devices.

If your current active project is newly created, a Create new Building dialog will popup automatically, fill in the parameters and a new building with single floor will be created.

Explore the Designer UI

The Designer UI consists several functionality zones:

1. Title Bar

show application title and current project name.

2. Editor Bar

switch between Building Mode and Objects Mode. Undo, Redo and Save changes on current project.

3. Left Side Panels

witch among group of side panels: Explorer, Building Parts, Objects, Monitoring and Dashboards

4. Quick Access Buttons

show user info, toggle full screen, hide whole ui layer.

5. Breadcrumb Navigate Bar

can change scope of the home plan. For example only show one floor.

6. Property Panel

show properties of the currently selected object.

7. Status Bar

Quickly access designer status including connection status, quota status, heatmap topic and view setings

Camera Control

Camera is a tool controls how you view the 3D scene. You can pan, rotate and zoom the camera to view the scene from different angles.

Zooming

You can zooming in and zooming out using mouse wheel

Change Scope

Scope defines how much of the whole scene you can see. By default it is set to Site, which shows all the buildings and floors.

Using Breadcrumb Navigate Bar, you can change the scope to Building or Floor to focus on a specific building or floor.

Selection

The designer has two Edit Mode: Building Mode and Objects Mode.

In Building Mode, you can select and edit the building parts, such as walls, windows, doors, etc. But you can not select objects.

Conversely, in Objects Mode, you can select and edit the objects, such as lights, sensors, cameras, etc. But you can not select building parts.
